A Dutch tourist has been arrested for theft of more than $1 million in foreign exchange from a foreign hotel.
Dutch police said the 22-year-old was arrested at his hotel in the Netherlands on Wednesday after a complaint from a hotel guest.
Authorities say the man, who was arrested in Amsterdam, tried to sell his foreign exchange notes in order to fund his gambling addiction.
Dutch media reported that the man was arrested after the suspect was caught with two hundred foreign exchange dollars in his possession.
According to Dutch media, the man is also suspected of having received a bribe of about $1,000 in exchange for the foreign exchange he was trying to sell.
The man has been charged with one count of theft, and a fine of between $1 and $10,000 is possible.
